Natural disasters often necessitate large and multi-faceted interventions – in some cases even requiring multibillion-dollar recovery and
reconstruction investments. Many country governments confronted with the challenges of designing, planning, and managing such complex
programs do not have relevant, readily available and applicable knowledge tools and capacity.
To bolster the capacity of governments to lead and manage the recovery process, create disaster-resilient communities, and build-back-better, the
World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) is working with UNDP and the European Commission (EC) to develop a
practical guide that governments and other partners can use to inform a resilient recovery process. This work is being led by GFDRR’s Sustainable Recovery Facility (SRF) team.
